first kitchen project: painting the interior of the back door

i know our kitchen is going to be our longest running project. there is so much that we are wanting to change that it is a little intimidating when it is all written down on my “home to do list”. i decided to break it down into about 20 different steps that helped me to feel as though it isn’t going to be as bad as i thought, but then, having 20 things to do to one room is a little bit scary.

being a kitchen & bath designer, i feel the urge to have our kitchen to be nothing short of perfection. if i had my way, we would be gutting the kitchen and starting from scratch. unfortunately, that just doesn’t make sense financially! BOO! why is it so easy to spend other people's money?? so, this girl has to get creative and stick to a budget.

the first and easiest project i decided to conquer was the back door. my friend Rebekah painted her door and I loved the pop of color it provided! i knew there was no way it could take very long to do and i was right! it only took me about two evenings because i wanted to make sure it was extra dry in between the coats of paint. thankfully, i already had a color i wanted to use from testing different colors in our back bedroom (which you can read here….) the color is BM Palladian blue and it is just perfect! it matches our current backsplash (which I like to call Christmas Vomit) and it will work really well with the color scheme for our new kitchen! here are a few photos of the project!!

As always, my trusty assistant was ready and willing to help!

I taped off around the windo so that there would be less clean up when i finished

i got as far as i could then realized i that i should have removed the shade first.....

and i still smile each time i see the color!

do you have any projects you are planning on doing this weekend?

i am going to SC with my mom to visit chris' mom and have mom's weekend 2015! his dad is going to be our cabana boy. it is such a fun weekend of relaxation and good eating (with lots and lots of wine!)

happy painting and happy labor day weekend!
